House Vordon – a very secret story.
Arkhus Vordon accepted Thakok-An’s proposal without thinking about the consequences and thus sealed the fate of his lineage.
Thakok-An tapped into the anger that rumbled in the heart of the young merchant whose oldest and most experienced members had perished in the catastrophe that rocked Kalidnay. He never knew that Kalid-ma had compiled a list of names whose bearers were to be removed on the day of the ritual. Thakok-An had supervised this operation herself and knew he was safe, without ever knowing the motives that had motivated the king to compile this list.
Thakok-An felt connected to Kalidnay and could not imagine leaving it. She also knew that the missing orbs had dispersed quickly, and that the merchants were in the best position to survey the reaches of Athas without arousing suspicion.
She secretly offered the Orb of Schools to Arkhus and entrusted him with the task of finding the other spheres using all the means at his disposal, including gold from the mines of Walis.
Pilgrimage.
Since that day, House Vordon has become one of the most important major Merchant Houses, concealing its connection to Walis by creating the fronting House Tomblador. The secret of the exploitation of the gold mine and the connection with the ancient templars of Kalid-Ma is known only to the patriarch of the House and is transmitted at each handover by a pilgrimage to Kalidnay.
Officially, House Vordon has no connection with the leaders of Walis who no longer bear the title of templar and who believe they are autonomous in their management. In Walis, only Ardian Tomblador knows the ins and outs of the links that unite the two Houses. Each year, the patriarch also travels to meet with Thakok-An to discuss progress in research, obtain funds and new directives to follow.
Thus, the Patriarch takes his orders from Thakok-An when the rulers of Walis take them from Ardian Tomblador. Only the two éminences grises meet to share this secret.
House Vordon knew how to use the gold of Walis wisely and was able to access the management of the metal of the mines of Tyr, making it, in secret, the most powerful of the Merchant Houses.
A new symbol.
The House features the symbol of a black diamond on a reddish-brown background and is believed by everyone to be a representation symbolizing iron and the mountains surrounding Tyr. It is not so, but the truth is only known by those who know Thakok-An and her very personal story…
The recent events in Tyr.
House Vordon has experienced many difficulties following the upheavals that have rocked the city-state of Tyr. However, she is gradually recovering.
Thaxos Vordon, the current patriarch, unfortunately used the Orb of Schools very often and fell under its control. Its behavior (described extensively in the “Dune traders”) is problematic but is only dictated by the Orb which has taken over.
Ardian Tomblador placed Derlan Watari alongside Thaxos to “ensure his safety”. His true mission is to watch over the Orb of Schools and “act” if Thaxos gets out of hand.
Following the latest events in Tyr, it was indeed Thaxos Vordon who managed to recover the Orb in Kalak’s possession. Thakok-An did not imagine, however, leaving two Orbs in the hands of an unstable Thaxos and therefore asked Derlan Watari to retrieve the second to bring to her. Thakok-An has treasured it ever since.

Maison marchande Vordon – une histoire bien secrète.
Arkhus Vordon accepta la proposition de Thakok-An sans réfléchir aux conséquences et scella ainsi le destin de sa lignée.
Thakok-An utilisa la colère qui grondait dans le cœur du jeune marchand dont les membres les plus anciens et expérimentés avaient péri au cours de la catastrophe qui ébranla Kalidnay. Il ne sut jamais que Kalid-ma avait dressé une liste de noms dont les porteurs devaient être éloignés le jour du rituel. Thakok-An avait supervisé elle-même cette opération et le savait en sécurité, sans jamais connaître les motifs qui avaient motivé le roi à rédiger cette liste.
Thakok-An se sentait liée à Kalidnay et ne s’imaginait pas la quitter. Elle savait également que les orbes manquantes s’étaient rapidement dispersées et que les marchands étaient les mieux placés pour arpenter les étendues d’Athas sans éveiller les soupçons.
Elle offrit en secret l’Orbe des Ecoles à Arkhus et lui confia la tâche de retrouver les autres sphères en utilisant tous les moyens à sa disposition, dont l’or des mines de Walis.
Pèlerinage.
Depuis ce jour, la Maison Vordon est devenue l’une des plus importantes maisons marchandes majeures, dissimulant ses accointances avec Walis en créant la maison prête-nom de Tomblador. Le secret de l’exploitation de la mine d’or et la liaison avec les anciens arkhontes de Kalid-Ma n’est connue que du patriarche de la maison et se transmet à chaque passation par un pèlerinage vers Kalidnay. Officiellement, la Maison Vordon n’entretient aucun lien avec les dirigeants de Walis qui ne portent plus depuis longtemps le titre d’arkhonte et qui pensent être autonomes dans leur gestion. A Walis, seul Ardian Tomblador connaît les tenants et aboutissants des liens qui unissent les deux Maisons.
Chaque année, le patriarche effectue également un voyage pour s’entretenir avec Thakok-An afin d’échanger sur les avancées des recherches, obtenir des fonds ainsi que sur les directives nouvelles à suivre.
Ainsi, le patriarche prend ses ordres de Thakok-An quand les dirigeants de Walis les prennent d’Ardian Tomblador. Seuls les deux éminences grises se retrouvent pour partager ce secret.
La Maison Vordon a su utiliser judicieusement l’or de Walis et a pu accéder à la gestion du métal des mines de Tyr, faisant d’elle, en secret, la plus puissante des maisons marchandes.
Un nouveau symbole.
La Maison arbore le symbole d’un diamant noir sur fond rouge brun et chacun pense qu’il s’agit là d’une représentation symbolisant le fer et les montagnes entourant Tyr. Il n’en est rien mais la vérité n’est connue que par ceux qui connaissent Thakok-An et son histoire très personnelle…
Les récents événements de Tyr.
La Maison Vordon a connu de nombreuses difficultés suite aux bouleversements qui ont ébranlé la Cité-Etat de Tyr. Elle s’en remet toutefois progressivement.
Thaxos Vordon, le patriarche actuel, a hélas utilisé très souvent l’Orbe des Ecoles et est tombé sous son contrôle. Son comportement (décrit largement dans le supplément Les Négociants des Dunes) pose problème mais n’est dicté que par l’Orbe qui a pris le dessus.
Ardian Tomblador a placé Derlan Watari aux côté de Thaxos pour « veiller à sa sécurité ». Sa véritable mission est de veiller sur l’Orbe des Ecoles et « agir » si Thaxos devenait incontrôlable.
Suite aux derniers événements de Tyr, C’est bien Thaxos Vordon qui a réussi à récupérer l’Orbe en possession de Kalak. Thakok-An n’imagina pas, cependant, laisser deux Orbes entre les mains d’un Thaxos instable et demanda donc à Derlan Watari de récupérer la seconde pour lui amener.
Thakok-An la conserve précieusement depuis lors.
