The Golden Pact.
Few on Athas measure the scope and extent of Thakok-an’s decision. When she appeared to the survivors who had returned to the destroyed city of Kalidnay, all were at first frightened by her new appearance. A few templars recognized her however, and sought to understand her condition, pained by what had happened to the Hight-templar and driven by the pain that had struck them too.
Distraught by the catastrophic situation in which they were all plunged, they listened to Thakok-An’s offer.
She lied to them by claiming that the city had been attacked by the combined force of the Dragon, Kalak of Tyr and Hamanu of Urik.
She lied to them by claiming that their king had fought valiantly to defend his city, losing his life there.
She brought them a new haven by opening the doors of Walis.
She offered the young merchant house a deal impossible to refuse: to use Walis’ gold to rebuild itself.
She also brought them hope by proudly displaying the obsidian orb and explaining to them what it represented.
Finally, she brought them revenge by concluding a pact, which, one day, will undoubtedly tip the whole Tyr region towards a new era.
Le Pacte d’Or.
Bien peu sur Athas mesurent la portée et l’étendue de la décision de Thakok-An. Lorsqu’elle apparut aux survivants revenus vers la cité détruite de Kalidnay, tous furent d’abord effrayés par sa nouvelle apparence. Quelques arkhontes la reconnurent pourtant et cherchèrent à comprendre son état, peiné par ce qui était advenu de l’akhonte en chef et poussés par la douleur qui les avait frappés eux aussi.
Désemparés par la situation catastrophique dans laquelle ils étaient tous plongés, ils écoutèrent l’offre de Thakok-An.
Elle leur mentit en affirmant que la cité avait été attaquée par la force combinée du Dragon, de Kalak de Tyr et d’Hamanu d’Urik.
Elle leur mentit en affirmant que leur roi s’était vaillamment battu pour défendre sa cité, y laissant sa vie.
Elle leur apporta un nouveau havre en ouvrant les portes de Walis.
Elle proposa à la jeune maison marchande, un marché impossible à refuser : utiliser l’or de Walis pour se reconstruire.
Elle leur apporta également l’espoir en arborant fièrement l’orbe d’obsidienne et en leur expliquant ce qu’elle représentait.
Enfin, elle leur apporta la vengeance en concluant un pacte, qui, un jour, fera sans doute basculer toute la région de Tyr vers une ère nouvelle.
